🦷 NEET-MDS 2025: Major Update in Exam Pattern – Here’s What Aspirants Need to Know
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery (NEET-MDS) is one of the most competitive postgraduate exams in India for dental professionals. And for 2025, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has introduced a significant change that all aspirants must be aware of.
📌 What’s New in NEET-MDS 2025?
Starting this year, the NEET-MDS question paper will be divided into two mandatory time-bound sections. This change is aimed at enhancing the security, integrity, and fairness of the examination process.
📄 Revised Paper Pattern
Part A
- 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Time allotted: 75 minutes
Part B
- 140 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Time allotted: 105 minutes
⛔ Key Rules to Note:
- Candidates cannot move to the next part before the allotted time ends.
- Once the time is over for a section, you cannot review or change your answers.
- Part B will begin automatically after the completion of Part A — no manual intervention.
🖥️ Demo Test for Familiarization
To help candidates get used to the new format, a demo test will be available on the NBEMS official website starting 9th April 2025 under the NEET-MDS 2025 application link. This is a crucial opportunity to understand the flow of the actual exam day.
📅 Important Dates to Remember
- Demo Test Available: 9th April 2025
- Exam Date: 19th April 2025
- Result Declaration: By 19th May 2025
✅ Eligibility Criteria
- Must hold a BDS degree from a recognized university/institute in India
- Must be registered with the State Dental Council (provisional or permanent)
- Completion of 1-year rotatory internship in a recognized dental college is mandatory
🎯 Why This Matters
This move by NBEMS is part of a broader effort to standardize and secure computer-based examinations across medical and dental domains. Similar formats are being adopted in exams like NEET-PG, FMGE, GPAT, DNB-PDCET, and others.
For aspirants, this means:
- More structured time management
- No second-guessing or revisiting questions
- Higher need for mock test practice under strict timing
If you’re a NEET-MDS aspirant or mentoring someone who is, this is the time to adapt your preparation strategy to align with the new pattern.
📢 Stay updated, practice smart, and make the most of the demo test window.
